Feña is playing what could potentially be his LAST EVER match as a professional tennis player….and I’m not going to lie, I’m not handling this well.
I’LL MISS HIM SO MUUUUCH!!!
(also god damn i want one of those shirts!)
Fernando participated in the draw for the Miami tournament.
This is to be his last official tournament ever as a professional tennis player.
I’m definetly not looking forward to it, I kind of sort of knew his retirment was coming, but when he officially announced it earlier this year it still really upset me to know that after Miami he would officially off the tour forever, I did not handle it very well (anyone who follows me on twitter can vouch for that) Im pretty sure I’m going to be worse when he officially plays his last match. I hope they do something special for him, and I hope that Delpo is there, I always liked it when those two were together :)
It made it easier to see Mr. Marat Safin leave with Delpo there, maybe he will have the same calming effect when Feña goes too. :(

Visibly moved, the national tennis player announced that he had “decided to step aside in professional tennis (…) I always said that at 30 I retired from tennis, but they came very quickly,” he said. Fernando Gonzalez (268 ° of ATP) announced on Thursday his retirement from professional tennis, which will lead to next March after the 1000 Masters Miami. The “La Reina Bomber”, 31, took this decision mainly because they are not fully fit to the high competition. “” It was very hard month for me, where I realized that I have the energy I need and am willing to do all I have to do to get where I want to be, “he said. “I said I would share with you this decision. Given the respect they deserve my business, I decided to end my career as a professional tennis tournament in Miami,” the national press conference. After nearly 13 year career, Gonzalez hung the racket with three Olympic medals, one gold (doubles with Nicolas Massu in Athens 2004), one silver (singles in Beijing 2008) and one bronze (singles in Athens 2004) and reaching number 5 world ranking in January 2007. I honestly dont think I could feel worse right now if I tried.
Devestaed does not even begin to explain how I feel right now. I cant even begin to explain, and with all the horrible things going on in this world i suppose me feeling this terrible about a person simply retiring from what is essentially their job seems pretty pathetic and selfish, but honestly thats how much I care! That is how emotionally invested in this stupid tennis business and its players I am.
Whats really hurting the most is that Fernando Gonzalez is the player who started it all for me he has always been and will always be my favourite, he was the first tennis player i really started to follow, he was the first tennis player that I stayed up all night just to watch, his the first player who really made me feel something when I watched a game, I know there are people who are going to think im stupid and pathetic for being as upset as I am right now (and believe me thats ALOT there doesn’t seem to be enough tissues in my house to deal with my sadness) but I dont care what it looks like to others, for me this is a very very very sad day in my tennis world.
